FAQ
What is SkinTē®?
SkinTē is the first-ever collagen sparkling tea formulated by a doctor and made delicious by a chef to give you a boost of beautifying benefits and promote daily well-being. At the heart of our recipe is our signature SkinTē equation: 3000mg of collagen peptides, powerful super herbs such as hawthorn berry, passion flower, horsetail, and nettle root, and smart ingredients for added vitamins, minerals, and antioxidant support. Plus, we keep it clean. No added sugar, artificial sweeteners, dairy, gluten ingredients, soy, or dyes. (Insert fist bump here.) Say hello to liquid radiance on-the-go and the benefits don't stop there. SkinTē provides nutritional support for hair, nails, joints, digestion, enhanced mood and overall well-being. Does your skincare do all of that? What is the source of SkinTē®'s collagen?
We take pride in the rigor and integrity in which we source our ingredients and we’re here to tell you not all collagen is created or sourced equally. Our collagen sparkling teas contain the highest-quality, kosher collagen hydrolysate sourced from grass-fed, pasture-raised beef. We have chosen a reliable collagen supplier that conducts rigorous testing by outside laboratories. Their research and development team have perfected collagen hydrolysate (the peptide form of collagen) and similar peptides have been shown to be 95% bioavailable to the human body. We share the same concerns that many of our customers have regarding animal welfare and the quality of grazing conditions for cattle. Our collagen is sourced from cattle in Argentina and Brazil. They are pasture-raised and grass-fed based on the standards of the American Grass-fed Association and animal welfare guidelines. Being forage-based eliminates the potential use of growth hormones, antibiotics, and steroids, which follows the Food and Agricultural Legislation in Argentina and Brazil. The cows graze freely on open grasslands away from the pollution of the cities and are raised by ranchers. What is collagen and why do we need it?
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and the foundation of vibrant skin, hair, nails, bones, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage... even teeth and blood vessels. 70% of our skin and 30% of our total body protein is comprised of collagen—it is the protein that literally holds us together. In our late 20s, collagen starts to break down faster than it can be produced. So consuming collagen on a regular basis (we recommend daily) is critically important to replenish the loss and nourish the body for overall wellbeing. Plus, collagen provides a ton of beauty-boosting benefits for skin, in addition to benefits for mood, sleep, digestive and joint health. Why combine collagen with tea?
Collagen is at the heart of our formula and a key component of our SkinTē equation which includes kosher, grass-fed collagen, super herbs, and smart ingredients. It is the trifecta of these powerhouse ingredients working synergistically that creates the true magic of our collagen sparkling teas. Teas are full of antioxidants, isoflavones, and other compounds in tea are protective and nourishing for the whole body, including skin. For example, white tea has been shown in research to help inhibit the breakdown of collagen and elastin in skin. We love when something tastes good AND has added benefits. We use organic loose-leaf teas (like jasmine green tea, white tea, and hibiscus tea) and herbs steeped at the optimal time and temperature that have collagen-compatible ingredients such as vitamin C. Green tea, white tea, hibiscus, and ginger specifically have other benefits including enhanced mood, immune and digestive support, and antioxidants. How much SkinTē® should I consume to experience benefits?
We like to think of collagen as an important food group (like your vegetables) since collagen production starts to slow down in our late 20s. Every person is different and may need different amounts of collagen depending on their overall dietary and lifestyle habits (i.e. smokers or sun-worshippers may need to double down). Through our extensive research, controlled trials show oral collagen consumption of 2500-5000 mg daily for 6-12 weeks promotes skin elasticity, hydration, and decreased fine lines and wrinkles. And, newer research suggests even less is necessary to experience benefits. Each SkinTē contains 3000 mg of collagen to deliver incredible benefits for the skin and beyond. We recommend consuming collagen daily but don't worry about being too prescriptive. If you miss a few days (life happens!), get back on track when you can. For those serious about results, we recommend you consume 1-2 SkinTē’s daily. After all, we created SkinTē to be an easy, grab-and-go, and delicious way to drink your collagen daily. Bottoms up to beauty-boosting benefits and beyond! How does SkinTē® fit my lifestyle?
SkinTē is the ultimate power-packed lifestyle beverage for an easy and delicious well-being boost and on-the-go indulgence. Reach for SkinTē instead of an unhealthy beverage, for a morning or afternoon pick-me-up, post-workout as a recovery drink, as a beauty cocktail (mixes beautifully with vodka, tequila, and champagne), after a long night out or a hard week, to get glowing for a special event, or anytime to quench your thirst. SkinTē is liquid radiance at your fingertips to easily fit the demands and indulgences of your lifestyle. Is SkinTē® Whole30 compliant?
Our White Tea Ginger is Whole30 compliant. Our Green Tea Grapefruit is not, but it is keto and paleo.Do you use sweeteners in SkinTē®?
Here at SkinTē, we like to keep it CLEAN and we don’t use artificial sweeteners. In two of our flavors (Green Tea Grapefruit and Hibiscus Vanilla), we use a natural sweetener derived from plants that is non-GMO and GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) called erythritol. All our flavors are paleo-friendly and both Green Tea Grapefruit and Hibiscus Vanilla are also keto-friendly. For purists, our White Tea Ginger is sweetened with a splash of organic grape juice.
Can I get collagen by eating meat, poultry, and fish?
Collagen is a protein and it’s found in the connective tissue, skin, and bones of animals. The amino acid structure of collagen protein is incredibly unique and beneficial. It is very different from eating meat as a source of protein. The most abundant amino acid in collagen is glycine (about 33%). Glycine is up to 20 times higher in collagen than in meat. Glycine is an important amino acid that not only plays a role in building new collagen/connective tissue on the inside of our bodies but also has been used to support mood, sleep, digestive and joint health. Therefore, the only way to properly get collagen from the foods you eat is by boiling the bones and skin and drinking the resulting broth. Eating a regularly cooked piece of fish, meat, or fowl will not provide you with enough collagen peptides. Fun fact: SkinTē's collagen hydrolysate is more bioavailable (meaning it’s easier for the body to absorb since it’s already broken down into peptide form) than the collagen found in these other sources..
Why not use fish (marine) collagen?
We’ve based our decision to use kosher, grass-fed bovine collagen on the extensive research and high-quality studies showing bovine collagen’s effectiveness. The importance of both taste and efficacy are cornerstones of our product formulation, and we are extremely rigorous with our collagen source. We use kosher, grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine collagen that is hormone-, steroid- and antibiotic-free as well as independently tested for contaminants such as heavy metals, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides. Why cans?
We utilize cans with new and improved BPA non-intent liners. Cans are one of the most sustainable forms of packaging and are often infinitely recyclable. Plus, cans have more than 3X the recycled content than estimates for both glass and plastic. Lastly, cans are not only lightweight and won’t break but they can travel with you anywhere (even places where bottles cannot like the beach or some parks!).Can I use SkinTē® if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
First of all, congratulations! We can’t give any medical advice regarding pregnancy, breastfeeding or any other medical condition. So, we recommend you talk to your doctor and follow his or her advice. Is SkinTē® safe for children?
While the ingredients in SkinTē are safe, we always recommend you consult your doctor as every child’s nutritional needs are different. Also note, two of our products contain a small amount of naturally occurring caffeine from the teas. So, how do you pronounce SkinTē®?
